We are pleased to share the full programme for the New Horizon Conference, which Together Liverpool is co-hosting with New Vision Community Chaplaincy, on Saturday June 27.
This one-day event brings together faith and community groups from across the Liverpool City Region to explore how we can better support people leaving prison to rebuild their lives and move forward with hope.
The day, at Archbishop Beck Catholic College (10am–3pm), will feature a range of powerful speakers, partners, and sessions, including:
- Edward Tyrell (HMP Altcourse) on reducing reoffending from a prison perspective
- Darren Howie (Splitting Bars), sharing his personal journey from offending to rehabilitation
- Mohammed T. Sidat MBE (Inspire Motivate Overcome) – exploring how faith communities can support people beyond the gate
- A personal testimony from Dominic Dakan, offering lived experience of resettlement
A panel discussion will bring together key voices from: HMP Liverpool, The Whitechapel Centre, Muslim Chaplains Association, The Welcome Directory, HMP Altcourse, and New Vision Community Chaplaincy.
The afternoon will include interactive breakout sessions with organisations working directly in resettlement and community support, including: The Welcome Directory, Walk Ministries, Together Liverpool, Victory Outreach, Combat Outreach, Combat Coffee (Veterans), Tattoos and Tears, Prison Fellowship, Inspire Motivate Overcome (IMO), and the Muslim Chaplains Association (MCA).
The day will also feature “A New Horizon Starts Here” session, led by Rev Brian Greenhalgh and Ken McCabe, alongside Joseph Cottrell (Together Liverpool, Social Action Development Officer), focusing on how faith and community groups can take practical next steps and work together to support people leaving prison.
With this rich mix of insight, lived experience, and practical action, the conference offers inspiration, learning, and opportunities to connect with others working across resettlement and rehabilitation.
As Bishop Richard Moth highlighted: “There is a call, too, for the whole community to remember and accept the opportunities to enable those leaving our prisons to be resettled and reintegrated into society in the hope of finding, perhaps for the first time, a healthy sense of belonging, community and self-esteem.”

About Merseyside Community Chaplaincy (New Vision)
Merseyside Community Chaplaincy (New Vision) is a newly registered charity working across the region to support people leaving prison as they resettle into the community.
Its aim is to promote rehabilitation and reduce reoffending by offering mentoring, practical support, advice, and training. It works in partnership with faith communities, local organisations, businesses, and probation services to build a strong support network around each person.
The charity also supports people to reconnect with faith and community where appropriate, and to access opportunities in education, volunteering, and employment — helping them rebuild their lives and relationships.
