Churches invited to apply for summer Feast of Fun & Big Day Out grants

Churches are invited to apply for Feast of Fun grants to run community food activities for children & families, and help tackle holiday hunger during summer 2023.

The fund is open to all of our Network of Kindness members in the Diocese of Liverpool area to apply for a Feast of Fun grant of up to £2.40 per participant, thanks to a partnership with Meals & More.

This year a further two grants of up to £500 each are also available for two churches to apply to run a Big Day Out activity, providing a day out for at least 25 children and young people.

It's free to join the Network of Kindness if you are not already a member, and all applications for these grants must be submitted by 5pm on Sunday July 9th.

This Easter more than 3,000 Feast of Fun meals were provided for children and families as sixteen churches hosted activities across Sefton, Liverpool, St Helens, Wigan and Knowsley.

More than 220 volunteers gave their time to offer healthy meals and activities such as crafts, storytelling, dance and football.

Churches reported the grants helped connect and strengthen relationships with local families in their communities, as well as providing a much-needed support with holiday food budgets. Read more here.

For summer 2023 Together Liverpool has funding for 5,000+ meals across the Diocese, plus the two Big Days Out. We are looking to support as many activities as possible that fulfil the criteria, with all funds to be spent by September 1st 2023.

Feast of Fun Activities must:

  • Be church-led - churches are encouraged to involve other community partners, such as local schools, faith groups, voluntary organisations or other churches
  • Enable your church to strengthen connections with families, children and/or young people in your community, beyond your usual church family
  • Include healthy food and wellbeing as key elements of your activity
  • Include a fitness or educational activity, for example a craft, dodge ball game, or turning on music and dancing (APPLY HERE)

Big Day Out activities must:

  1. Be church-led; churches are encouraged to involve other community partners, such as local schools, faith groups, voluntary organisations or other churches
  2. Enable your church to strengthen connections with families, children and/or young people in your community, beyond your usual church family
  3. Provide a minimum of 25 children and young people with a fun, exciting day out (APPLY HERE)

All of the activities should be open and welcoming for people from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and faiths in your community.

All churches that are successful will need to complete a risk assessment, submit a copy of their safeguarding policy, and provide basic monitoring data after the event.

Churches will be notified by July 14th on the outcome of their application. Please direct any enquiries to James Green Executive Director of Together Liverpool and the Network of Kindness: james.green@togetherliverpool.org.uk
