Welcoming refugees in our communities: Intro to Welcome Churches

Join us to discover the vision and values of Welcome Churches, where the vision is for every refugee to be welcomed by a local church.

Whether your church is already considering ways to support refugees or you're just beginning to explore this ministry, our free workshop from 12pm-1pm on Friday October 25th will offer valuable insights into how your church can get involved.

Offered as part of Together Liverpool's National Lottery funded Network of Kindness project, the session will cover:

  • An introduction to the Welcome Churches vision for every refugee welcomed by a local church
  • Key values: Welcome, Empowerment, Building Community, Justice, and more
  • Practical steps your church can take to begin welcoming refugees and asylum seekers
  • How to assess whether your church wants to continue the journey to becoming a Welcome Church

Joe Cottrell, Social Action Lead Development Officer for Together Liverpool who will deliver the session, said:"This is a fantastic opportunity for churches to learn more about how they can make a real difference in the lives of refugees. Together, we can be a part of creating communities where refugees feel safe, accepted, and empowered."

Why attend? This workshop is perfect for churches at the start of their journey, offering an introduction to the resources, support, and opportunities available through Welcome Churches. By attending, your church will be equipped to explore how it can become a place of hope and hospitality for refugees in your community.

Who can attend? This session is offered free to churches of any denomination in the geographical area covered by the Diocese of Liverpool - including: Sefton, Knowsley, St Helens, Halton, Warrington, Wigan, West Lancashire and Liverpool.
