Could you be our next Together Liverpool Champion?

At Together Liverpool we love to celebrate people who translate what they have learnt about social justice into action. This month our Together Liverpool Champion is Tamar, a mum of two young boys who, after reading our Environmental Justice newsletter decided to make a few changes at home. Here’s her story:

“After reading the newsletter, we decided to try give up single use plastic for Lent – my 5 year old was keen to help the sea creatures! Doing a shop was hard, I hadn’t realised how much plastic there is, even bananas come in plastic and they literally have their own little armour already on! I wasn’t in a position financially or time wise to be trekking to multiple shops but started to buy off the market stalls in town when I was there. By the end of Lent it didn’t feel like we had made a big difference, but we have picked up some good habits on the way! I’m way better at remembering to bring my own bags and to recycle. I’m trying to grow some of our own herbs and vegetables, and we are generally more aware about the amount of plastic we are using and what is wasted. My son will now ask if something has too much plastic in and if it does he will pick another thing, he’s even started to pick up rubbish from the floor!”
