Network of Kindness Newsletter – Feast of Fun Easter Grants Feb 2026

Posted on

As World Social Justice Day is marked today we are reflecting on the conviction at the heart of our faith: that God brings life out of scarcity, hope out of hardship, and calls his people to reflect that hope in practical ways.

It is from that conviction that we are once again running our Feast of Fun small grants scheme this Easter, supporting church and faith groups to tackle holiday hunger in their local communities during the school holidays.

The need is growing. New analysis from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation reports that child poverty has risen for the third year in a row, with 4.5 million children now living in poverty. It also highlights a sharp increase in food insecurity: 2.8 million more people are now food insecure than two years ago, taking the total to 7.5 million.

Behind those numbers are families in our own neighbourhoods, and Feast of Fun helps churches and faith groups offer warm spaces, good food, creativity, play, and dignity during the Easter holidays.

Please read on to find out how your church or faith group can apply. You’ll also find other ways to put hope into action in March: join one of our online Manifesto for Hope sessions to explore shared priorities for justice and compassion, and take part in our Liverpool Connect event with Welcome Churches on March 7th.

A reminder there’s still time to join us on 24 February for From Access to Action: Strengthening Community Participation, training for churches and community organisations working with people experiencing poverty or exclusion, in partnership with Church Action on Poverty.

There’s also still time to apply for one of two roles to join our team on the national pilot project Countering Hate, Cultivating Hope. We’re seeking a Project Lead and Project Co-ordinator, with applications closing on Monday February 23rd – details below.

Finally, some encouragement from our Chair of Trustees Rev Canon Dr Ellen Loudon, with a World Social Justice Day reflection and prayer – and you can also download our 2026 Social Justice Calendar for more diary dates.

Thanks, Rev James Green
