On Friday, March 26, we will be joining a day of prayer and action for just and compassionate solutions to the debt crisis we face in our communities, and we encourage you to join us.

Since the pandemic began, millions of people have been forced into debt simply to make ends meet. A year ago, many families received their first unpayable bill because of Covid-19. Many are still facing an uncertain future weighed down by debt.

As well as praying we're also joining in action, calling on government to support families weighed down by debt because of Covid-19, and encouraging people to act by adding your name to the petition asking Chancellor Rishi Sunak to #ResetTheDebt.

Together Liverpool is part of a coalition of faith-based organisations including Church Action on Poverty, the Jubilee Debt Campaign, Joint Public Issues Team (JPIT) and Transforming Communities Together, who are supporting the #ResetTheDebt campaign to address this growing crisis.

There will be a collective time of reflection via a live prayer broadcast from 12:45 to 1:15pm led by Church leaders and MPs.

You can also watch this prayer on YouTube any time:

You can also write a letter to your MP. Tell them about why this issue matters to you as a constituent and a Christian, and why this is an issue your MP should care about.

Debts have shot up in the pandemic, half a million are now behind on their rent and unless something is done the situation will get worse. 1 in 3 households have lost income because of the pandemic. That's at least one person on every street.
