Join us for an informative on-line session exploring how local faith communities across the Liverpool City Region can partner with the Welcome Directory, to support prison leavers.
Every year, individuals leaving the prison system face significant barriers to reintegration, often experiencing deep isolation and stigma. Faith communities are uniquely placed to offer the non-judgemental support, community connection, and practical friendship needed to help people rebuild their lives successfully.
During this free lunchtime workshop, running on Tuesday November 17th from 12-1pm, you will learn about the Welcome Directory’s vision and the practical steps your congregation can take to become a registered welcoming community.
We will explore the training and resources available to ensure your volunteers are equipped to offer a safe, appropriate, and compassionate welcome to prison leavers.
Whether your church is already engaged in prison ministry or you are simply exploring where to start, this session will provide clear guidance and next steps.
Led by Together Liverpool’s Social Action lead Develiopment Officer Joseph Cottrell, this Zoom event will feature insight from the Welcome Directory, local examples, and a dedicated space for discussion to help you connect with others on the same journey.
Joe said: “A welcoming community can be the turning point for successful rehabilitation. By partnering with the Welcome Directory, we are helping local congregations move from well-meaning intentions to safe, practical action, ensuring individuals leaving prison have a place to belong.”
He added: “This session aims to give an insight into understanding the specific challenges and isolation faced by individuals leaving the prison system. Participants will learn how the Welcome Directory connects prison leavers with safe, registered faith communities.
“You’ll get the chance to discover the free training and safeguarding resources available to equip your volunteers, and build connections with other Network of Kindness members passionate about rehabilitation and social justice.”
