“Encourage one another and build one another up.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11

On World Kindness Day, we’re reflecting on the many ways faith groups across our region are working together to support their communities.

Since 2023, we’ve completed our Learning Communities programme with 35 churches across four deaneries. It’s been encouraging to see so much collaboration, shared learning, and mutual support lead to practical outcomes. Read on to hear how churches in West Derby and South Sefton are now preparing to launch new social action projects as a result.

Our latest Story of Kindness features Network of Kindness members, the Lauda project at St Dunstan’s church. Their free exercise classes helped women improve their health and wellbeing, thanks to funding from CUF’s Near Neighbours scheme. This comes as we support more organisations to apply for the next round of Near Neighbours small grants, with up to £6,000 available.

This autumn, we’ve enjoyed seeing many of you at our Together for the Common Good conversations with Jenny Sinclair, and we’re looking forward to our final Rooted & Resourced workshops today, exploring how to measure impact, and on December 3, for a session all about funding.

In recent weeks, we’ve also joined events hosted by partners including Kids Matter, the Clewer Initiative relaunch on tackling modern slavery, and CUF’s Together Network gathering. Later this month, we’ll gather with stakeholders for the Faith in the City 40th anniversary discussions as we prepare to launch the resulting manifesto. Please keep all involved in social action in your prayers.
