Hundreds of children across our region enjoyed food and friendship this Easter, thanks to Network of Kindness members delivering Feast of Fun activities in local communities.
A total of 16 groups took part, providing 2,700 meals alongside a range of activities for children and families, opening their doors to host events, share food, and create welcoming spaces that helped alleviate school holiday hunger.
The Together Liverpool team are now preparing to open applications for funding for Feast of Fun summer activities, supporting local groups to deliver activities for families during the school holidays from July 18 to September 1.
Please look out for an announcement in mid-May, with a grant application deadline in mid-June and funding to be awarded by the end of June.
We would encourage anyone who has not applied before to consider applying – grants are open to faith groups of any denomination.
Previous applicants have provided a wide range of food and activities for families during the holidays. This Easter’s events included:
Triple C (Liverpool) – the team provided food for the community including craft and outdoor activities for local families, in partnership with Christ Church Norris Green.
One parent said: “It has been lovely I am glad we came, loved the food and so did the kids; it’s actually been nice to have time to chat with other adults too!”
Another mum of three said: “I have been invited to go to Blackpool etc with other families, but no idea how they afford it, my money ran out in week one of the holidays. So, I am grateful to have events like this today that we can all come along to and also have food here! Thank you!”
Central Church Warrington – families were welcomed to an Easter ‘Crafternoon’, aimed at families of 3-11 year olds. This consisted of Easter-themed crafts and some games, finishing the event with a meal together, creating space for children to take part in activities while sharing a meal together.
Sarah, a church leader said: “Volunteers from the church enjoyed the opportunity to run the craft activities, and it was great being able to connect and reconnect with families.”
Fazakerley Methodist Church – volunteers supported an Easter Brunch, craft and activity event, helping to create opportunities for connection and community during the holidays.
Organiser Angela said: “We were able to provide free good quality healthy food for those on limited income from the local area. Being able to advertise the free food meant we were able to build new relationships with people who would not usually come into a church.”
Thank you to all the Network of Kindness members who hosted activities, and to our funders Meals & More whose support made this possible.
