Faith groups invited to apply for summer Feast of Fun & Big Day Out grants
Faith groups are invited to apply for Feast of Fun grants to run community food activities for children and families, and help tackle holiday hunger during summer 2024.
The fund is open to Network of Kindness members in the Diocese of Liverpool area to apply for grants of up to £500, thanks to our partnership with Meals & More.
This year we are delighted to be opening up the fund to groups of any faith, as we seek to support a wider diversity of projects operating within across our diocese area.
In addition a further two grants of up to £500 each are available for groups to run a Big Day Out activity, providing a day out for at least 25 children and young people.
All applications for these grants must be submitted by midnight on Sunday June 2nd . Activities must take place during the school Summer holidays (July 22 – Sept 2), and the funds need to be spent by September 1st.
Activities must be based around healthy food and wellbeing, and include a fitness or educational activity as well – for example a craft, dodge ball game, or music and dancing.
This Easter, more than 2,000 meals were provided at 17 events hosted by churches and charities across the Network of Kindness, and we anticipate even more being provided over the summer.
Participants reported the grants helped connect and strengthen relationships with local families in their communities, as well as providing a much-needed support with holiday food budgets.
You can read some case studies from previous successful applicants in our Summer 2023 Feast of Fun Impact Report - download here. Read testimonials from churches that hosted activities in Easter 2023 here.
Rev James Green, Executive Director of Together Liverpool said: “Over the last three years our members have provided 13,103 meals through our Feast of Fun microgrants scheme.
“It is testament to the kindness and dedication of the staff and volunteers involved across our region that this continues to be a core activity for the Network of Kindness, bringing hope and nourishment to our communities. Many thanks also to our funders Meals&More for enabling us to continue.”
It's free to join the Network of Kindness if you are not already a member, and we cover the whole area covered by the Diocese of Liverpool including: Sefton, Knowsley, St Helens, Halton, Warrington, Wigan, West Lancashire and Liverpool.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application during the week commencing June 10th, and funds will be released by July 8th.
