A message from our Chair of Trustees

Revd Dr Ellen Loudon looks back at 2019 - and has an exciting announcement about the future of Together Liverpool

Ellen Loudon Trustee

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives

and recovery of sight to the blind,

to let the oppressed go free,

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour. Luke 4. 18-19

This year has been a big year for Together Liverpool. We have new team members, trustees, projects, a vision and funding. We have welcomed Naomi Maynard as our Project Development Lead Officer and Adeyinka Olushonde as our Places of Welcome project worker and, in partnership with Micah Liverpool, Fiona Pennie has been working on developing the Liverpool Kindness project. You can find out more about the projects that Together Liverpool has been developing and how you can join in this work on this website.

We have welcomed a group of new trustees this year, joining Sibylle Batten, Hilary Russell, David Bishop and myself are Richard Bennett, Peter Bull, Dave Randall, Andrea Maganty, Chris Neilson, Pete Spiers and Julia Webster. Together we have worked on a new vision for the charity and are very much looking forward to seeing the work progress into 2020.

In the last few days we have received the good news that The National Lottery has agreed to fund the Together Liverpool Network of Kindness over the next three years. This funding will enable us to build on the work that has already begun across the diocese and strengthen our networks. As part of our vison we plan to encourage more social action by creating a ‘Network on Kindness’ so that people become better embedded within local networks of social mutual support; and in which social isolation is reduced and people experience a greater sense of wellbeing.

This is where you come in…we want to work with partners, individuals and groups to develop this Network of Kindness. We want to be able to link good practice, enable new ideas to flourish and help train leaders and social activists. If you would like to join this new movement of kindness please do get in touch.
