Speaking up for the hungry – tackling childhood food insecurity

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” – Proverbs 31:8-9

As people of faith, we are called to care for the most vulnerable in our society, and few are more at risk than children experiencing food insecurity. No child should go hungry, yet across the UK, thousands face empty cupboards and missed meals. This is not just a crisis – it is a matter of justice. Every child should have access to nutritious food, and this is why as a charity, we have long supported the Free School Meals for All and Right to Food campaigns.

During term time, free school meals provide a crucial safety net for many families. But school holidays bring additional pressure, leaving many children at risk of hunger. That’s why we are once again inviting faith groups to apply for Feast of Fun grants to run activities during the upcoming Easter holidays.

Thanks to our partnership with Meals & More, these grants support faith-led initiatives in providing meals, activities, and opportunities for community connection. We have heard from previous Feast of Fun participants about the real difference these grants make to local families.

Applications are now open for faith groups who are Network of Kindness members in our area to get involved, with grants available from £50 to £500.

Please read on to find out how your faith group can apply before the March 2 deadline. By working together, we can continue turning faith into action, working towards a society where every child has enough to eat.
