Making a Bigger Difference

We encourage and support churches across the Diocese of Liverpool to develop their social action and understand the impact of what they do in their communities.

In 2018 Together Liverpool partnered with Church Army’s Research Unit and the Diocese of Liverpool to conduct research into social action across the diocese.

Many churches are already doing great work in this area, however others are not sure where to start or want to do more. Our research showed the range of areas of social action churches are already involved with. We also heard the stories of four parishes at different stages in exploring how they can make a bigger difference to their communities, and we asked their parishioners for advice on how other churches could begin their journey.

This research led to the development of our resource database – a place where individuals, churches and faith groups can explore different areas of social action.

Now, Together Liverpool is encouraging churches not only to do more social action, but to understand the impact it has in our communities. We are working with the Church Urban Fund Research and Policy team to develop ways to measure the impact of this work .
